QUESTION
ANSWER

How do we hire you for our wedding?
What are the next steps?

1. Send me a note and let's chat!
I love to meet my couples in person, so let's schedule a time to chat - maybe over coffee, or a glass of wine! You can ask me any questions you have, and we’ll figure out which collection best fits your needs and how we can make your wedding day awesome.

2. Reserve your date
A 50% retainer and a signed contract reserves your date, and at that point I'm yours. The rest is due two weeks before your wedding date.

3. Unlimited consults & planning help
You can meet with me as often as you like for assistance with planning your timeline. I'll help guide you and create a timeline that's perfect for you, making sure you have enough time for all the photos you're dreaming of during the best light of the day, while also making sure you get to spend as much time partying as you can.

4. It all comes together and we make some magic!

Can I see a full wedding gallery?

Yes! I think it's super important to check out full galleries from a photographer, to get an idea of how they tell a story from start to finish. We loove those epic portfolio shots and couple portraits, but there are so many little in-between moments during a wedding and oftentimes those end up being the most meaningful and memorable. Plus, I definitely want to make your parents and Grandma happy with a few "traditional" ones they can hang on their walls too ;)

You're welcome to check out some of my full wedding galleries, here, here, or here to get an idea of how I capture a full wedding day.

How would you describe your style?

I combine a moody, ethereal, fine art approach with a natural, organic, photojournalistic one. I'm all about creating emotive images and capturing little moments and big feelings in an honest and artistic way.

As far as how I like my photos to look, I love deep vibrant colors, rich warm tones, true dark shadows, and natural light. Sometimes I like to get funky with experimental techniques and compositions. I’ll also occasionally throw in a technically “imperfect” but compelling photo because I care more about the subject of the photo and the stories they tell, rather than how perfectly and properly it was composed or photographed. I like delivering those in-between moments that some others might cut out as bloopers, because I find those are the moments where real love shows through. I’ll take big laughs, ridiculous faces, silly eye rolls, and little sweet gestures over a formally staged smiley picture any day.

I want you to remember how it felt, and see yourself as being as beautiful as others see you.

What are your prices?

You can my list of services and starting prices here on my services page. You're also welcome to send me a note and I can send you my full pricing guide, or make a custom wedding collection for you!

How far in advance should we hire you for our wedding?

Once you know your wedding date, as soon as possible is best. This might look like 9-12 months out, or longer for very popular dates (especially Saturdays in summer/fall).

Weddings are first come first serve, and I am unable to hold dates without a contract and a deposit.

Can we set up a payment plan for our wedding?

Certainly. A retainer will be required to hold your date, and your entire payment will still be due two weeks before your wedding. You may however split up your payments leading up to your date to help make it more affordable. Ask me about details if you're interested in setting up a payment schedule!

When will get our photos after our wedding?
How are they delivered, and how many will we get?

Your photos will be ready 8-12 weeks after your wedding, and you’ll get a link to your personalized online gallery with your full resolution images that you can view, download, favorite, share, and print. I like to post a sneak peek shortly after each wedding as well!

As far as how many you'll get, every wedding is a little different. One thing's for sure - I don’t believe in holding back your precious moments, and I want you to have them all to cherish and love forever. I don’t give a cut-off number for that reason, but typically it's over 400 for a shorter wedding, or 600 for a longer wedding.

You're also welcome to check out some of my full wedding galleries, here, here, or here to get an idea of what a full gallery looks like.

Do you offer a second photographer with your collections?

Yes I do! Second photographers come standard with a few of my collections, and are included in every photo & film collection. I’m definitely comfortable flying solo for smaller weddings and intimate affairs, but I also love working with a second photographer because it essentially doubles your coverage and ensures that we’ll get all kinds of creative shots and angles that just aren’t physically possible with just one. They’re great for telling the full story, especially for simultaneous getting ready coverage, multiple angles during the ceremony and other key moments, and cocktail hour coverage. This also means you'll likely end up with more photos, too.

I work with a very select handful of fantastically talented photographers, and each of them understand my distinct style and vision and bring their creative eye to the wedding day.

Should I get a wedding album?

Yes, yes, yes! Here’s why. Your moments matter, and I don't want them to fade away sitting amongst the selfies and Starbucks mug pics on your iPhone. I want you to be able to touch, feel, and behold them as a daily reminder of your love and commitment to one another.

The albums I offer are gorgeous, and I want you to have one.

general questions
QUESTION
ANSWER

Where are you located?
Do you travel?

I'm based in Frederick, Maryland - a charming little town that I love so much. I photograph often in Baltimore, Washington DC, Annapolis, and bits of the surrounding states – beyond that there is a travel fee.

I'm totally willing to explore less expensive options like Airbnb, or potentially camp out if we're adventuring! I've literally slept in a tent in a bride's backyard after her wedding - so I'm pretty low maintenance. There’s not much in this world that I love more than traveling and adventuring, and I’m always down to go to new and exciting destinations.

Will you photograph my LGBTQ / multi-cultural / plus-size wedding?

I absolutely will. We love the LGBTQ community, and we celebrate diversity! All love is beautiful and should be celebrated.

Are you insured?

Yes! My business is insured for a million dollars for general liability, and all of our equipment is insured as well.

Did you change your business name recently?

Yes. You might have known us as LouLo Photography - that's the name I operated under when I started this business, but I felt that a change was necessary to grow and evolve. You can read more about our background and our grand re-opening here!

Do you have a referral program?
I'm dying to tell my friends about you!

Yes! I have a program for my past clients to receive rewards for any wedding clients they refer. For every couple you refer, you'll get a credit, and they'll get $200 off any wedding collection. Small businesses thrive on community, and I love to give back to my amazing couples. It’s one of my ways of saying thank you - because I simply couldn’t do it without you!

Do you photograph non-wedding stuff, like families, newborns, or seniors?

My specialty is photographing couples in love, and to be entirely honest I know there are plenty of other photographers out there who may better serve you and your specific needs. I'd be happy to recommend a few of my favorite local photographers who can provide these services - just ask!

I do photograph couples of all kinds, whether you're engaged, married, or not. This includes couple sessions, adventure sessions, and in-home sessions, as well as solo or couple boudoir sessions.

QUESTION
ANSWER

What should we wear for our session?

Don't worry, I gotchu! I'll send you a guide that goes over everything - like my favorite looks, and what to watch out for. I'll also take a look at your outfit ideas and guide you in the right direction to make sure you're looking your absolute best.

Help! I'm super awkward and nervous about being in front of the camera.

I’m all about those natural candid moments, but when it comes to portrait time, I know what it's like being in front of the camera - it can feel super awkward at first. I don’t want you to feel as though you have to “act natural” (because waht does that even mean!?!?). I’ll pick up on your vibe and give you as little or as much direction as you need. Rather than formal poses that can make people feel really stiff and awkward, I’ll be there to inspire you with prompts and cues and create an atmosphere of fun and play, that’s relaxed, laidback, and free of judgement. As long as you’re open-minded, honest, and focus on your love for one another, you’ll do great.

When should we schedule our session?

The stylebook I send you will go over all of that, but I schedule sessions on Wednesdays or Thursdays (with certain exceptions) at sunrise or sunset. For engagement sessions and sending out save the dates, I recommend scheduling your session at least 7-8 months out from your wedding to be able to send them out 6 months in advance.

P.S. Fun fact - you can design and order save the date cards (or invitations, or thank you notes) right from your gallery's storefront!

photo & film
QUESTION
ANSWER

What's included in your photo & film collections?
(wedding photography + cinematography)

Photo & film collections are all-inclusive collections that include wedding photography and cinematography. With a photo & film collection, you'll receive a beautiful cinematic film that weaves storytelling with artistry and cinematography, plus your full gallery of photos to hang on your walls as fine art pieces.

The cinematic short film is a 4-7 minute film full of stunning imagery, little details, gestures of love, plus your beautiful spoken words and moving music, all captured with an artistic, photography-based, cinematic touch by an all-powerful female team of two photographer/filmmakers. You can also upgrade to a longer 10-15 minute wedding highlight film if you like.

All of our photo & film collections also come with a complimentary engagement film, or "save the date" film, which is a 1-3 minute film celebrating your love and engagement and announcing your wedding date. These are filmed during your engagement session.

Please note: photo & film collections are different from full videography coverage - which include multiple angles, hours of footage, and continuous footage of your full ceremony/reception. We are photographers first, and we do prioritize the capturing of your day through photos first. The cinematic short film is an add-on, and it's designed to be an artistic short film that complements your photo gallery, rather than a complete stand-alone wedding video.

Can I upgrade to a longer video?

Yes, you may! You can upgrade from a 4-7 minute cinematic short film to a 10-15 wedding highlight film.

What audio do you include? What about music?

We'll capture audio from your ceremony, like the vows and speeches, plus some of the toasts from your reception. If you have something you'd love captured, like a reading of a love letter or a message from a friend, we'd be happy to hook you up (literally!). We'll use highlights from all of this audio footage in your cinematic short film.

As a classically trained musician (I studied music performance in school!), music is a huge part of our films, and we believe music brings everything together and helps the story along. I am happy to select your music for you based on your taste, style, and the vibe from your wedding, or we can make our music selections together. I use Artlist for my music selections and licensing, which includes a vast library with high-caliber music of nearly any genre, though if you would like to purchase a particular song (especially a popular song) there may be a special license and additional fee.

Do you offer drone footage?

Heck yeah we do!

If the piloting of drones is permitted at your venue, we'll definitely use ours. Drone footage is included in the cost of all of our collections - but again, only if the venue permits. We will check the laws and policies before showing up at your venue, and let you know whether or not we can provide you with drone footage.

Please note: Certain venues, parks, or other areas strictly prohibit the piloting of drones, and unfortunately there isn't anything I can do to circumvent that. I will not break any laws, regulations, or policies when creating your wedding film (or photos). Drones are strictly prohibited in national parks, Washington, DC, and within 5 miles of any airport - other regulations may apply at other locations/times as well.

Do I need a second photographer/filmmaker with a photo & film collection?

All of our photo & film collections come with two photographer/filmmakers, and both of us are crucial to the full documentation of your wedding day. We work together to coordinate photo versus video so we can capture all the great moments in both media, and we alternate between photo and video coverage throughout the day.

What are your prices?

You can see my list of services and starting prices here on my services page. You're also welcome to send me a note and I can send you my full pricing guide, or make a custom wedding collection for you!

Can we just hire you for our wedding film? We already have a photographer.

At this time, we are only offering film collections alongside our photography services. We are photographers first, and we really value the art of creating both your gallery and your film together.

We may offer these in the future, but at this time we offer either photography-only collections or photo & film.
